LSAWA in Karratha and Port Hedland with Director

/, Public news/LSAWA in Karratha and Port Hedland with Director

This week the Director of Liquor Licensing held meetings in both Karratha and Port Hedland accompanied by LSAWA CEO Peter Peck and Mike Andrew from the AHAWA to engage with liquor licence holders regarding the proposed section 64 liquor restrictions.

“It’s only fair that the people who it is going to effect the most have the opportunity to discuss the issue with the director face to face so they can get their point across” Peter Peck said.

One meeting was also attended by WA Police and a number of quite confronting questions were asked of them and a robust discussion took place.

The meetings went well and we believe the Director now has been given both sides of the story which will enable him to make we hope a fair and balanced decision on the future of the liquor industry in the north of the state.

The Director will still be accepting written submissions for the time being. If you would like your thoughts considered, then please contact the Department for how to submit ASAP.

Although the decision may be handed down before Christmas, the Director has indicated it is unlikely to be enforced before next year.
